The Sorbus mougeotii group comprises hybrids between the species of the Sorbus aria complex and Sorbus aucuparia . This group includes the two hereditary hybrids Sorbus mougeotii and Sorbus austriaca .

features

The species are shrubs or trees that closely resemble Sorbus aria . The leaves are 1.3 to 2.0 times as long as they are wide and oblong to almost circular in shape. The underside of the leaf is gray-white tomentose, but the hairs are looser than in Sorbus aria and the hairs are also thicker at 15 to 30 micrometers. The leaf incisions are 1/8 to 1/6 of the leaf width long.

Occurrence

The area of ​​the Sorbus mougeotii group includes the Pyrenees, higher altitudes in south-east France, in Switzerland the Jura and the Central Plateau, the Vosges, the Alps, the Carpathians and the Illyrian Mountains.
