Sornbank House (German: Sorn-Ufer-Haus) is a building in the Scottish town of Bridgend on the Hebridean island of Islay . It is the corner house between the two most important streets on Islay, the A846 and the A847 , and is located on the banks of the Sorn right next to the Sorn Bridge . On July 20, 1971, the building was added to the Scottish List of Monuments in Category B.

The building once housed the National Commercial Bank of Scotland before it merged with the Royal Bank of Scotland in 1969 . A veterinary practice followed the Royal Bank of Scotland. Today the building is used as a hotel. A car rental company has set up in the annex, which was formerly designed as a stable.

Sornbank House was built in 1838 and has typical architectural features of the waning Georgian era . It is made up of several two-story wings that are pushed into one another and terminate with slate-covered gable roofs . The current entrance area of ​​the hotel is provided with a canopy that rests on pillars. The facades are plastered using the traditional Harling technique. In the late 19th century, a one-story stable was built a few meters to the west. Its masonry consists of jointed quarry stone and has a hipped roof .
