The Sorn is a small river on the Scottish island of Islay , the southernmost island of the Inner Hebrides, in the Council Area Argyll and Bute .
It arises from the outflow of the lake Loch Finlaggan running southwest in the valley Gleann Mhartuin , which only joins the also south-west running outflow of the lake Loch Ballygrant , the Ballygrant Burn , and its tributaries, at Emeraconart Cottage , before the southeast running one shortly afterwards Allt Ruadh flows.
The river flows about five kilometers further south-west towards the coast and flows into the North Atlantic at Bridgend , at the head of Loch Indaal Bay .
The river has clear water and is known for its salmon and trout.
