Soul in Isolation is a band that was founded in Nuremberg in 1992. The name “Soul in Isolation” goes back to a track by the post-punk formation The Chameleons and is interpreted by the band as “the striving for self-discovery”, which can only be achieved through “self-chosen isolation”.

history

Influenced by the dark wave movement of the 1980s and inspired by the Arthurian epic and authors such as Hermann Hesse or Novalis , Soul in Isolation was founded in autumn 1992 by singer Dave Scrag and guitarist and keyboardist Robert Tale. They performed their first concert at the turn of the year in the VOICE discotheque in Schwabach.

In 1993 the band signed a contract with the Gymnastic / ClassX Records label (now Chrom Records) and released their debut album "On Stranger Tides", which was released by Jochen Höfler ( Love Like Blood , Love Is Colder Than Death , Fiddler's Green ) was produced. The album received mostly positive reviews in magazines like Zillo and was compared to the music of Deine Lakaien , among other things . Only a short time later, Zillo devoted an entire article to the band and rated them as "a new, very promising duo in dark-wave heaven" .

In 1994 the mini CD "Black Days in Heaven" followed, after which singer Dave left the band. Her last songs appeared on various compilations, including "Evelyn" or a cover version of the classic "Marian" by The Sisters of Mercy .

In 1996 the band gave several concerts as part of a European tour, including at the Dynamo Club in Zurich with groups such as Still Patient and The Tors of Dartmoor .

Since 2005 Soul in Isolation have been back in their original line-up and are recording new songs. Due to the predominantly electronic songs, a side project with the band name Weltfremd was launched in August 2008. The debut album Monologues was released on the DarkmusiX Records label in 2009.

A return to the times of the beginning brought Soul in Isolation back to its roots. Since the beginning of 2010 new tracks in the line-up of guitar, drums, bass, synthesizer and vocals have been recorded in Chemnitz (EchoRausch Studio) and Nuremberg (Separate Sound Studio).

In 2011 the band was expanded to include Wolfram Kellner (drums), Michael Schlössinger (bass) and Jenna Niemann (keyboard). After a comeback tour within Germany in 2011, Robert Tale left the band. Since November 2011, Robert Tale has dedicated himself exclusively to his new band with keyboardist Helen Dares, drummer Robert Herold (Ignis Fatuu), bassist Croma R.Mo and singer Martin Harlov (ex-Deadone Sign / Admiriate). The band name of the new "Soul in Isolation" was soon found: TIEFENSTADT. Before the first concert in April 2012, the band broke up with their bassist and invited Michael Schlössinger. With that, the original formation from the 2011 Soul in isolation was back together.

After over ten concerts, u. a. with Staubkind, Scream Silence, Whispers in the Shadow, Beauty of Gemina etc. the captains of TIEFENSTADT (Robert Tale and Martin Harlov) are about to make their debut.
