South Barrule ( Manx Baarool Jiass ) is a 483 m high hill in the south of the Isle of Man . This makes it the highest point in the southern part of the island. It is close to Dalby and Foxdale. On its summit are the remains of a fortress from the Iron Age , where legend has it that the Irish legendary figure Manannan lived.
A narrow hiking trail leads up the hill from the southwest and crosses the summit. When the weather is good, the summit offers a view of the southern part of the Isle of Man.
Is located on the southwest side of the hill at 176 meters height of about 2.3 ha large reservoir Cringle reservoir that supports the supply of drinking water in the southern part of the island. It was built between 1938 and 1946 and has a capacity of around 14,100 m³.
In the northern part of the island there is also a North Barrule hill ( Baarool Twoaie , 565 m, second highest point on the island).
