South Lebanon is a village ( Village ) in Warren County in the southwestern part of the US state of Ohio . According to the 2000 census, the municipality had a population of 2,538.
geography
The village is located south of the county seat Lebanon near the mouth of Turtle Creek in the Little Miami River . The main part of the place belongs to the Union Township , the settlements south of the Little Miami River to the Hamilton Township .
traffic
In the north runs Interstate 71 which has an exit to State Highway 48 at South Lebanon . Both roads are important regional transport routes. A railway line, the Little Miami Railroad , ran through South Lebanon from the 1840s. At the end of the 1960s, rail operations were stopped and the line was dismantled. In their place, the Little Miami Scenic Trail long-distance cycle route now runs through the village.

At the 2000 census , the town had a population of 2,538 a little less than in 1990. They lived on an area of 4.3 km² of land, which is around 590 people per square kilometer. Almost 99% of the population were white . The per capita income was 16,779 US dollars, and just under 13% of the population lived below the poverty line .
history
South Lebanon was founded in 1795. Originally the place was called Deerfield and was the main town of the Deerfield Township, which existed until 1803, the name was changed to its current name after 1850 and referred to the location south of the city of Lebanon.
