The Little Miami River in the Clifton Gorge area

The Little Miami River (also known as the Little Miami Scenic River ) is a right tributary of the Ohio River , approximately 257 km long.

It flows in southwest Ohio ( USA ) and meets the Ohio River east of Cincinnati .

The river is named after the Miami people who lived in the area until the white settlers began taking the land.

The Little Miami River is a National Scenic River .

Its source is near the Clifton Gorge State Nature Preserve . Many parks and bike paths have been created along the river, e.g. B. the Little Miami Bike Trail , the Buckeye Trail, and the Little Miami State Park and National Scenic River . The Ohio to Erie Trail project, which is currently under construction, aims to connect the trails with others in the state of Ohio, creating a continuous cycle path from Lake Erie to the Ohio River.

The river forms the eastern boundary of the Symmes Purchase and the western boundary of the Virginia Military District .
