The South Opuha River is a 30 km long river in the Canterbury region of the South Island of New Zealand .
geography
The source of the South Opuha River is located 1.5 km south-southwest of the 2251 m high Mount Musgrave on the southeast flank of the Two Thumb Range . From there, the river initially takes a southerly course for around 18 km, and then flows around 12 km further southeast into the Lake Opuha reservoir .
The 3 km northeast in the Lake Opuha opening out North Opuha River formed before the foundation of the dam at the confluence with the South Opuha River the Opuha River .
