South Stack ( Welsh : Ynys Lawd) is an island off Holy Island in north Wales .
The island is connected to Holy Island by a suspension bridge and is only 14 meters away from it. On the island is the South Stack Lighthouse , which guides ships around the dangerous cliffs on their way into Holyhead Harbor .
The island is a breeding ground for numerous seabirds and part of the "South Stack Cliffs" bird sanctuary of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB). The Anglesey Coastal Path , part of the Wales Coast Path , passes South Stack.
A photo of the cliffs below the bridge to South Stack can be seen on the cover of Roxy Music's album Sirens .
