Sovereign GrossOrient of Germany
The Sovereign GrossOrient of Germany (SGOvD) sees itself according to its constitution as the Grand Lodge of Liberal Freemasonry .

In its constitution , the SGOvD has committed itself to both the old Masonic values (“ Old Duties ”) in a new interpretation (“New Duties”) and humanitarian values. Particular emphasis is placed on social human rights such as equality between women and men and freedom rights such as freedom of conscience and religion . In contrast to the grand lodges recognized as regular by the United Grand Lodge of England , neither the religious belief in a personified Supreme Being is required for membership, nor the male gender.
According to the Appeal of Strasbourg from 1961 are free of a lodge in SGOvD and is considered complete if not the holy book one at the necessary establishment of the three "Luminaries" revealed religion as one of the three symbols is used. There is also no obligation to use the term “ Almighty Master Builder of All Worlds ”.

According to its own information, the SGOvD currently has eleven active lodges worldwide, including the European traveling lodge "Phoenix", the Australian lodge "Terra Australis", the German lodges "Mehr Licht!" i. O. Freiburg, "Glück Auf!" i. O. Lüdenscheid, "To Cautiousness" i. O. Rosenheim, "Zur Rose an Severi" i. O. Erfurt and "MEMENTO MORI MMXII" i. O. Kaiserslautern.
history
It was founded in October 2002 as a merger of four Masonic lodges by seven masters “ to set the course for the genesis of a liberal Greater Orient in Germany for free men and women in the spirit of the Enlightenment and tolerance in a modern Europe. “The foundation festival (“ bringing in light ”) was celebrated on October 4, 2003 in Offenbach am Main with the Grand Orient de France , the Grand Orient de Belgique, the Grande Loge de Belgique, the Grossorient of Switzerland and the Grand Orient of Austria .
