The Sparkasse Niederlausitz was created in 1994 as part of the district reform in Brandenburg through the merger of the Kreissparkasse Calau with the Kreissparkasse Senftenberg. These two predecessor institutes each came into being in 1952 as part of the reorganization of the savings banks in the GDR .
