Branch (mythology)

Sparte ( Greek  Σπάρτη ) or Sparta ( Σπάρτα ) is in Greek mythology the daughter of Eurotas , a king of Laconia , and the Klete. She married Lakedaimon , the progenitor of the Lacedaemonians , and since Eurotas had no male offspring, the latter became king.

Sparte and Lakedaimon had two children, Amyklas and Eurydice . Lakedaimon founded a new capital and named it Sparta after his wife .
