The Königsberger Speicher were warehouses in Königsberg (Prussia) .

location

Independent until 1724, the cities of Altstadt , Kneiphof and Löbenicht had their own storage districts. The old town initially had storage facilities on the Laak , after the construction of the wooden bridge also on the Ochsenmarkt and on the Weidendamm on the Lomse . Kneiphof had its storage suburb from the Green Bridge to the Klapperwiese . Löbenicht's storage district on the Anger was small, but some of it remained until 1944/45.

All granaries had names and often beautiful memory brands made by stonemasons : Pelikan (1670), Schäferspeicher (1717), Greif (1728), Hirsch (1741), Großer Friedrich, Pax (1777), Walfisch, Kasten Noä, Weintraubenspeicher and others. Friedrich Saturgus and his brother owned 20 granaries. Friedrich Schwink built the swan (1670), stork and crane south of the Pregel .

Only the granaries “Hengst” and “Bulle” on the Old Town Lastadie were spared from the frequent fires . They offered visitors coming from the main train station in Königsberg a “highly impressive cityscape”.
