Spencer Averick

Spencer Averick (* 20th century ) is an American film editor and film producer .

Career

Spencer Averick grew up in Petaluma , went to high school and attended San Francisco State University, which he graduated with a bachelor's degree .

He has been working as an editor in the film business since 2007. At the beginning of his career he worked on the short films Big Slick and Handle with Care , and later on documentaries about Kevin Hart and Shaquille O'Neal . The best-known films Averick has worked on are the American historical drama Selma , the documentary 13th , and the children's film The Mystery of Time , all directed by Ava DuVernay .

For his artistic achievements in 13th - Averick wrote the screenplay, was responsible as producer and editor - he received two Emmys (Best Documentation and Screenplay) and a BAFTA Award for " Best Documentary ". At the 2017 Academy Awards , Averick also received a nomination in the “ Best Documentary ” category .
