Wiejkowo ( German  Groß Weckow ) is a village in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship in Poland . It belongs to the Gmina Wolin (city and rural community Wollin) in the Powiat Kamieński (Camminer district) .

Geographical location

The place is in Western Pomerania , on the west bank of the Martenthiner See, opposite Martenthin .

history

The historical and economic core of the village was formed by the manor Groß Weckow, which was first mentioned in a document in 1299 as a fiefdom of the von Güntersberg family . Last tenant of the estate Ernst von Güntersberg († 1762). His widow Amalie Sophie von Kleist (1724–1783) had the estate allodified . The prelate at the secularized cathedral monastery Cammin Carl Christian Philipp von Berg († 1842) subsequently bought the property. As a direct inheritance or by marriage, Groß Weckow came to District Administrator Albert von Ploetz (1803–1876), who had a manor house built and also united it with Schinchow to form a family entrepre- neurship . His family owned Groß Weckow until 1945.

Harald Blauzahn's gold disc was found in Groß Weckow in 1841 .

From 1882 to 1889 Karl Sparr (1860–1932) was a school teacher in Groß Weckow.

Groß Weckow was the seat of an office headed by an honorary head of office elected for six years. To the district of Groß Weckow belonged the communities Kunow , Paulsdorf , Sager , Schinchow, and Klein Weckow .

In 1945, Groß Weckow, like all of Western Pomerania, came to Poland. It received the Polish place name "Wiejkowo".
