Kołczewo [ kɔu̯ˈt͡ʂɛvɔ ] ( German Kolzow ) is a village in Gmina Wolin in the Polish West Pomeranian Voivodeship . It is located 13 km north of Wolin (Wollin) , 13 km west of Kamień Pomorski and 60 km north of Szczecin . In 2011 the village had 721 inhabitants.
history
The first traces of settlement date from the Bronze Age, especially the Lusatian culture . The settlement complex can be dated to the 9th century, isolated settlement points to the 10th to 12th centuries. The village was first mentioned in written sources in 1311 under the name Koltzowe . In a document from 1492 the pastor Detlevus Goesz is mentioned.
A church was built in the southern part of the village in the 15th century. It was destroyed at the beginning of the 19th century and protected as a ruin from 1859. In the middle of the 19th century there were two churches and two mills in Kołczewo.
