Spencer Clark (racing driver)

Spencer Clark (born January 29, 1987 in Las Vegas , Nevada , † May 21, 2006 in Albuquerque , New Mexico ) was an American racing driver .

Life

Spencer Clark's father, TJ Clark, had already raced. Spencer began racing in the Mickey Thompson Pee Wee Motorcycle Series at the age of five and raced go-karting at the age of eight. He later won several trophies in the Legends Car Series , where he started in 2000. Truck races followed in 2003 and 2004, and he also won the rookie title in the NASCAR Super Late Model division . In March 2006 he made his NASCAR Nationwide Series debut.

On May 21, 2006, his truck and trailer were hit by a strong gust of wind on the way home while preparing for a race. The driver lost control of the vehicle; Clark and his team member, 28-year-old Andrew Phillips, were thrown out of the car and died.
