The Spering is with a height of 1605 m above sea level. A. the westernmost elevation of the Sengsengebirge . To the west the summit falls moderately steeply to the Steyr , to the south to the Vorderen Rettenbach and to the north to the Wallergraben. To the east a ridge falls to the saddle Auf der Hutn , where a radio station is located. The Spering is often visited by tourists and offers a beautiful panoramic view, especially of the northern slopes of the Dead Mountains .
The 3 km long Spering tunnel of the Pyhrn motorway runs under the western flank of the mountain .
