The association Spielmannszug & Jugendblasorchester Rödemis is a music association in Husum in Schleswig-Holstein . The club is divided into two marching bands and a youth wind orchestra . The Spielmannszug was founded in the Rödemis district of Husum in 1913 and therefore bears this name.

Minstrels in the club

The first train of the Spielmannszug and Jugendblasorchester Rödemis eV, founded in 1913, undertakes numerous concert tours and regularly takes part in national and international competitions. Concert tours have led to Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Norway, the Czech Republic, Spain, Italy, England, Ireland and Switzerland. In musical competitions, the musicians were able to win a total of over 200 first and second prizes. Outstanding successes include winning one silver and nine gold medals at the World Music Festival in Kerkrade , the Netherlands, as well as being honored with the title “Best International Award” in 2001. Furthermore, the players of the 1st train won the International German Championship in Rastede , the German Cup in Alsfeld, Hesse and the title “Champion of the Lage Landen” in Hamont, Belgium . As part of their youth work, the musicians go on holiday trips to various European countries. In 2007 the average age of the 55 minstrels was 16 years.

The second train with an average age of 12 years (as of 2007) occurs mostly at smaller celebrations in the region. Since the mid-1970s, there has been a youth exchange with the youth brass band from Nüdlingen in Bavaria every two years .

A junior train was founded in 2000, which quickly developed into an independent, playable train. In 2007 it consisted of 45 minstrels with an average age of nine years. The junior train took part in various competitions, such as B. in Heikendorf and Hattstedt .

In 1986 a youth wind orchestra was founded, which is now directed by Josef Antos. The orchestra's repertoire ranges from symphonic brass music to pop and rock music to traditional marching music . The youth wind orchestra regularly takes part in the marching and show competitions in Hattstedt and Heikendorf and Hamont (Belgium), where they won first prizes in 2004 and 2006 and the special prize for best broadcast in 2004. There is a regular youth exchange with the befriended "Dechovy orchestr ZUS Rokycany" from Rokycany (Czech Republic).

A big band was formed in 2001. She took part in jazz festivals in Wyk auf Föhr , Pinneberg and in Rokycany / Czech Republic. In May 2006 the Big Band Rödemis hosted the 1st Big Band Festival in Husum.

European music festival Rödemis

Every two to three years the association organizes the European music festival Rödemis ; a competition for marching bands and music bands, in which friendly clubs from the surrounding area and beyond take part. Over 1,000 minstrels took part in the Whitsun 2007 event.
