The Spilmann family was a Bernese notable family that had owned the citizenship rights of the city of Bern since the 13th century , belonged to the guild society of Schmieden and became extinct in 1553.

The Spilmann, possibly from the Bernese Seeland , earned a large fortune with the blacksmith's trade and later metal trade, which enabled them to acquire sovereignty rights and rise to the ruling family. In the 15th and 16th centuries, the Spilmanns provided several Venners and other important positions. With the son of the Venner Anton of the same name, the Spilmanns died out in the male line in 1553. The rule of Kehrsatz passed on to the Michel and Bonstetten .

In the Bern Minster, Anton Spilmann (III.) Owned the collature of the Schopfer altar through inheritance until the Reformation . In the Bulzinger Chapel (also known as the Metzgern Chapel) there is a grave slab with the alliance coat of arms of Anton Spilmann (III.) And Dorothea Ross.

In the Bern Historical Museum there is a renaissance chest from 1525 with the coats of arms of the married couple Hans Rudolf Nägeli and Jakobea Spilmann.
