Spinges ( Italian Spinga ) is a fraction of the municipality of Mühlbach in South Tyrol . The village is located at about 1105  m slm on a terrace at the transition from the Puster Valley to the Eisack Valley . In regional descriptions, Spinges is accordingly sometimes assigned to one valley and sometimes to the other. The village has 288 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2008).

Spinges was first mentioned in 1174 in the will of Bishop Heinrich von Fügen of Brixen .

Spinges became known through the Battle of Spinges on April 2nd, 1797, in which the Inntaler riflemen and the inhabitants of the Wipptal, with the participation of the farmer's maid Katharina Lanz, defeated the Napoleonic army . The German-speaking middle school in the main town of Mühlbach was named after her.
