The Davos Hospital in Davos is a public acute hospital for basic medical care. With around 350 employees, it is one of the largest employers in the region.

history

The first Davos hospital was built between 1887 and 1888. The client was the Davoser Krankenverein, which was founded in 1872 - also thanks to the initiative of the landscape doctor Wilhelm Beeli. It was built on Promenade 4 and had 15 rooms. In 1896 a segregation house was built according to Gaudenz Issler's plans (demolished in August 1924). In 1907, the Davos municipality and landscape took over the hospital and became the owner. In the following years she commissioned several projects for a new building. A new separation house was built in 1910/11 according to plans by Karl Koller (demolished in 1973). It had a reinforced concrete attic from Morel & Cie. The stationary disinfection system had a Sulzer furnace , the warm water heating was installed by Oberrauch & Milentz.

The actual hospital was rebuilt in 1913/14 in place of the building from 1888. This building now had 90 beds. The plans for this come from Schmitz & Oberhoff. The broad structure with a hipped roof forms a very striking structure at the southern entrance of Davos, also due to its location on a stepped terrain. The portal system based on plans by Overhoff & Wälchli was built in 1918. The competition for a renovation and expansion in 1926 was not carried out, but the renovation planned for 1928 was, between 1929 and 1930. Since then, the main building has had a flat roof instead of the hipped roof . Eleven additional rooms and the new hospital kitchen in an extension with a flat roof were created.

The main building was rebuilt in 1959/60. Another renovation and expansion took place between 2004 and 2008.
