history

At the end of the 1960s, the resident dentist Albert Spitta developed an index card in addition to his practice in Frommern , Balingen district , after he was not satisfied with the quality of the products then common. He tested the index card in his practice for two years. After he was able to sell 400 copies at the FDI (Professional Association of Executives in the Printing Industry and Information Processing eV) in Munich in 1971, he founded a company with his wife Ursula. He began with the serial printing of his index cards in the basement of his practice. In 1973 he presented his index card to a larger specialist audience for the first time at the International Dental Show (IDS) in Cologne. Due to the great demand, in 1980 he bought his own printing and publishing house in Balingen. The publisher soon produced other products such as forms, patient information sheets, stickers, and appointment and control books. Albert Spitta's teaching activity in assistant training resulted in the first loose-leaf work for dental assistants in 1982 . At that time, the publishing program comprised around 500 practice management products. In 1985 Albert Spitta handed over his publishing house to the WEKA group of companies in Augsburg for health reasons.

In 1989, the Spitta-Verlag published the bought, monthly trade journal "ZMK - Zahnheilkunde, Management, Kultur" for the first time. Also in 1989 the loose-leaf work "HoZ - The correct fee accounting of the dentist" appeared. In 1992 and the following year the acquisition of Perimed- and Demeter publishing was done with medical journals, sports medicine specialist books and the Congress Calendar Medicine .

The current publishing house in Balingen-Engstlatt was moved into.

In 1995 the publishing program comprised around 30 loose-leaf publications on medical and dental topics. From the mid-1990s, the publisher focused on software and electronic media. The “Medical Congress Calendar” appeared on CD-ROM in 1996 and was available online in 1998.

In 2002, Spitta-Verlag developed specialist books for further training in dental medicine. In the same year, a dental seminar program started with a focus on dental and dental accounting as well as practice management and communication. In 2007 Spitta offered its first e-book in the medical field, "Medicine in Lecture". In 2008 Spitta acquired dental journals, various seminar and further training programs as well as yearbooks from Flohr-Verlag in Bamberg . In 2009, four of the publisher's dental journal portals went online. In 2010 billing portals for dentistry and dental technology were available on the Internet. In 2011 Spitta expanded the area of advanced training and took over the Institute for Dental Communication and Distance Learning in Berlin .
