The splachnales are an order of the moss .
features
They are acrocarpic mosses. The trunks have a central cord in cross section. The simple rib leaves usually have rhombic to elongated, smooth cells. Leaf-wing cells are not differentiated. The species are either dioecious or autocratic . The spore capsule has a clearly separated neck; a peristome is usually present.
