Spokil is a planned language by the French Adolphe Nicolas (1833–?) From 1887 with further publications up to the beginning of the 20th century.

Due to the initially overwhelming success of Volapük , numerous projects were developed in the following years, which were understood as extensions or improvements. The best known of these are Idiom Neutral and Spokil. Like Volapük, Spokil is mostly referred to as an a priori-a- posteriori hybrid, but some authors refer to it as a purely a priori language .

At the 3rd World Esperanto Congress in 1907, Nicolas appeared in person and defended his language. A committee should decide which language system is best for international communication. In addition to Esperanto and Spokil, Apolema , Bolak , Bopal and Parla were also up for discussion. Ido , as a direct competitor to Esperanto, was presented for the first time at this congress.

The numbers from 1 to 5 in Spokil are “ba, ge, di, vo, mu”.
