Sport Benguela e Benfica , usually just called Benfica Benguela , was a sports club from the Angolan city of Benguela . During the time of the Portuguese colonial administration of Angola, he was particularly known for his football and roller hockey teams.
history
The club was founded in 1921 under the name Império Sport Clube . Shortly afterwards it was first called Sport Lisboa e Benguela and then Sport Benguela e Benfica and was then registered as a subsidiary of the Portuguese club Benfica Lisbon (officially Sport Lisboa e Benfica ).
In 1943 the club succeeded in winning the Angolan football championship , as the first club outside the capital Luanda . After that, the club no longer achieved a title in football. In roller hockey, however, he was still successful. So he became the Angolan champion in 1972.
Later, after Angola's independence from Portugal in 1975, the club was merged into the Estrela Clube Primeiro de Maio .
