Sprang-Capelle was a municipality in the Dutch province of North Brabant . It was formed on January 1, 1923 by the union of the three municipalities Capelle , Sprang and Vrijhoeve-Capelle . On January 1, 1997, it was incorporated into Waalwijk . On January 1, 1996, 10,110 inhabitants lived in the municipality on 25.66 km². A small part of the municipality (0.14 km² with 12 inhabitants) was added to Loon op Zand . Today Capelle, Sprang and Vrijhoeve form a district ( Dutch wijk ) in the municipality of Waalwijk, which has 13,000 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017).

In the winter of 1944/45 there was a battle at Kapelsche Veer near Capelle . Canadian troops captured the defensive positions of the Germans with heavy losses.
