The starch factory R. Hundhausen is a former company in Hamm , later in Ahlen .

The history of the Hundhausen company can be traced back to 1864 . Wheat starch is made from wheat flour in Hamm in Westphalia . The factory's end products included wheat starch, wheat starch powder , wheat gluten , aleuronate and wheat starch flour. From 1868 the name R. Hundhausen starch factory is guaranteed. At that time, the Hammer Factory was the first of its kind and the products and products were well known throughout Germany under the Hundhausen brand. The reasons for the high awareness of Hundhausen products were a widespread Davidis-Cookbook, reporting on the Nansen expedition, and gold and silver medals for Hundhausen articles in Amsterdam (1883), Brussels and Berlin (1888), Vienna (1891), Jamaica (1891) and Anvers (1894).

In 1885 a coal seam was discovered on the grounds of the Hundhausen starch factory during water drilling . The then owner of the company, Dr. Johannes Hundhausen is granted mining rights by the regional mining authority in Hamm . Due to the economic crisis at the time, the "Robert von Hundhausen" coal field was not developed.

In 1899 the company was acquired by CD Epping, a businessman from Lippstadt .

During the First World War , production cannot be maintained due to a lack of raw materials. In 1940 the company was relocated to Ahlen due to lack of space at the old location in Hamm. The local court and the Hamm correctional facility are now located on the grounds of the Hundhausen company in Hamm.

The production facilities are being rebuilt in Ahlen and equipped with the most modern production facilities for this time.

During the Second World War, the plant was badly hit in a bomb attack on March 23, 1944 . However, production could be resumed after a short time.

The production of starch in Ahlen was stopped in 1990 because the area in the city center of Ahlen did not allow the factory to be enlarged.
