history

The church, consecrated to the holy arch-martyr Stephen and built in the 12th century in the Romanesque style, was first mentioned in 1162. The church corresponds to the type of Romanesque country church with a single nave, which is widespread in the region and closes with a semicircular apse in the east. The church is located to the west below the bishop's castle of the bishops of Alet and may have served as a castle chapel . It received its present form after being destroyed in the Huguenot Wars in the 19th century. A thorough renovation took place in 2005.
