Church of St-Denis, view of the choir

St-Denis is a Roman Catholic parish church in Loubers in the Tarn department . The former fortified church has been registered as a monument historique since 1978 .

history

The church consecrated to St. Dionysius of Paris was built in the Gothic style in the 15th and 16th centuries as a single-nave building with two side chapels. The retracted square choir is just closing. In the northern corner of the nave and choir is a bell tower.

Due to the visible construction seam , the expansion to a fortified church and the associated increase in the church appear to have taken place at a later point in time, presumably because of the Huguenot Wars . A roofed fortified storey rises above the nave, while consoles have been preserved around the choir that supported a battlement .

Furnishing

  • Christ on the cross, bronze, 12th century, Monument historique
