St-Epvre, view of the choir tower

The Roman Catholic Church of Saint-Epvre (German St. Aper ) is located in Tronville in the Meurthe-et-Moselle department in France . The place of worship is registered in the register of cultural heritage in France.

history

The Church of St-Epvre belonged to the group of parish churches incorporated into Gorze Abbey. The choir tower church was a typical form of construction for the church in the vicinity of the abbey . Today the church is a branch church of the Roman Catholic parish of Jarny with the parish church of St-Maximin .

The oldest part of the church is the choir tower from the 12th century, to which an apse in the transition style from Romanesque to Gothic was added around 1300, which is similar to the apse of the Church of St-Clément in Vionville . The ribbed vault inside resembles that of the parish church of St-Étienne in Gorze , which also has an east tower. The nave of St-Epvre was rebuilt in 1766.
