St-Jean-Porte-Latine (Douy-la-Ramée)
St-Jean-Porte-Latine (German: St. John in front of the Latin Gate) is the Roman Catholic parish church of Douy-la-Ramée , a parish in the Seine-et-Marne department in the French region of Île-de-France . The church was added to the list of architectural monuments in France in 1926 as Monument historique .
history
The late Gothic church of St-Jean was built in the 16th century as a two-aisled structure. Both naves are under one roof. The west tower in front of the northern nave is supported by mighty buttresses and bears a bell from 1773, which is called Marguerite-Henriette.
On September 16, 1914, the church was hit by the bombardment of the German army.
