Saint-Pierre church in Abitain

The Catholic parish church of Saint-Pierre in Abitain , a French parish in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region , was originally built in the 13th century and renovated in 1894/95.

The Apostle Peter consecrated church was originally the chapel of the abbots of during the Revolution repealed lay monastery . The abbey building, which was destroyed in 1838, was attached to the church.

In 1894/95 the church was completely renovated. The masonry consists of quarry stone , partly with corner blocks, the roof is covered with slate . There are two on the west facade stained glass windows of stained glass Mauméjean that were built then. In 1926 the bell gable, which collapsed in 1924, was replaced by a bell tower.
