history

The St. The statue depicting Joseph of Nazareth is located at Klosterweg 1 am Pfarrgarten. The statue, made of sandstone and measuring 1.80 meters, stands on a 2.20 meter high base with the inscription “St. Josef pray for us ”carries. St. Joseph carries the baby Jesus in his arms and holds a branch of lily in his right hand.

The statue was created in 1882 by the Kissingen sculptor Valentin Weidner and is dated and signed on the base. It was donated by Kaplan Fulda on the occasion of the establishment of the Catholic workers' association.

According to local tradition, Heinrich Schreiner, a member of the Hausen Warriors and Military Association , is said to have donated the memorial out of gratitude for his return after participating in the 1901 Chinese War (see also the Boxer Uprising ).

In Poppenroth and Ramsthal there are similar statues of Joseph, which could also come from Valentin Weidner, but do not have any signatures.
