The St. Konrad Church is a Catholic church in St. Mauritz in Münster .

history

The St. Konrad Church was built in 1937, which is special in that hardly any churches were built during the National Socialist era . Construction was only possible through the commitment of farmers' associations in the surrounding area. The brick-built church, planned by the Münster-based architect Hans Ostermann, appears compact, also because of its low crossing tower, which gives the well-proportioned building an almost defensive character. Due to the new military airfield in Handorf, the church could not be built higher in 1938; For the same reason, the tower of the St. Petronilla Church in Handorf had to be cut off for the airport.

The choice of the patronage of the St. Konrad Church was a well-considered decision of the then Bishop of Münster, the later Cardinal Clemens August Graf von Galen , and in several respects confessed: Konrad von Parzham (1818-1894) was a Bavarian Capuchin monk and Porter of the Altötting monastery, whose canonization in 1934 the Nazis disliked. The St. Konrad Church was consecrated on October 23, 1938 as the rectorate and daughter church of St. Mauritz by Bishop Count von Galen.

At Pentecost 2007 it became the parish church of the new parish of St. Benedict. On May 30, 2013, the parish of St. Benedict was merged into the greater parish of St. Mauritz . The St. Konrad Church has been one of the churches in the new large parish ever since.
