St. Pankratius Church in Anröchte

The St. Pankratius Church is a listed Catholic church in Anröchte , in the Soest district ( North Rhine-Westphalia ).

History and architecture

The hall church corresponds to the Grafschafter type of the Westphalian hall churches. It was built in green sandstone between 1180 and 1230. The exterior is dominated by a mighty tower. This opens in a round-arched tympanum , under which the decorated portal opens. In the Thirty Years' War the tower helmet was destroyed by fire, it was replaced by an articulated helmet in 1659. Its total height is 63 m. The three naves of the nave are combined by a gable roof.

The interior has an almost square floor plan. The aisles look like narrow aisles. A trapezoidal widening intermediate yoke forms the transition from the central nave to the choir .

In the years 1894 and 1895, under the direction of Gerhard August Fischer, a neo-Gothic extension was added on the south side. This is also a hall church, it blends in harmoniously with the original building.

The building was renovated in 1996/1997. A new organ was built by the Sauer company in Höxter.

Furnishing

  • A copy of a Pietà , the original made of oak from the end of the 14th century, is in the Landesmuseum Münster.
  • The bell in the tower consists of four bronze bells that were cast in Brilon in 1946. There are the Marienglocke (h °), the Jesusglocke (d '), the Pankratiusglocke (e') and the Agatha bell (g ').
  • A bell from 1505 hangs in the roof turret.
