St. Achatius (Atteln)
The Catholic parish church of St. Achatius is a listed church building consecrated to St. Achatius of Armenia in Atteln , a district of Lichtenau (Westphalia) in the Paderborn district . Church and parish belong to the pastoral association Egge-Altenautal in the dean's office Büren-Delbrück of the Archdiocese of Paderborn .
history
The church was completed in 1712. The altar of the church dates from 1761. In the middle of the parish church hangs a steel Madonna from the 18th century. At that time there was a magistrate named Drolshagen in Atteln. Since his wife had no children, he promised God that if his wife had children, he would donate a Madonna to the church. A little later, his wife gave birth to twins. Because there were two children, he donated a double Madonna. In 1900 a new yoke was added and the church tower was renewed.
