The Protestant village church St. Albanus is in the Gaberndorf district of the city of Weimar in Thuringia . It belongs to the Weimar parish in the Weimar parish of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

history

The church in the middle of the cemetery was built in 1368; some components are a bit older, such as the rib-less cross vault on the ground floor and some windows.

On the tower there is the helmet from the 18th century on an octagonal tail dome .

Inside, the historic wooden barrel ceiling and the altar with pulpit have been preserved. The third gallery and the organ were removed in the course of repairs in 1960 and were lost.

The entrance on the south side and the flat ceiling and benches are currently (2013) being installed. Today's altar is a memorial plaque with a painting from around 1560. It depicts the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ .

1986–1987 the church interior was restored by a Weimar sculptor and restorer and redesigned with biblical images.
