The Roman Catholic parish church of St. Antonius Einsiedler is a characteristic church building in Eisborn , a district of Balve in the Märkisches Kreis ( North Rhine-Westphalia ). The parish belongs to the pastoral network Balver Land.

History and architecture

The building was erected in 1827/28 according to plans by the master builder E. Plahsmann. The tower was built up in 1928 according to a design by the architect Josef Ferber and is flanked on both sides by rounded components. The church became too small and therefore expanded in 1960/61 based on designs by the architects Franz and Karl Heinz Vedder. The new chancel was relocated to the previous nave . The sacristy found its place in the former, now bricked-up choir . A gallery was built into the tower-side section , the supports of which extend into the painted, flat ceiling. The wall surfaces of the old and the new part are kept in white, the gable roof is slated. The church is accessed through an elongated entrance room with a canopy. The chancel is lit through small side windows. The organ stands on a higher podium in front of the rear gable wall . The side walls are divided by four rectangular windows, the glass paintings are works by Jochem Poensgen . The altar, the ambo and the communion bench have been preserved in their original state.
