St. Apollinaris (Prague)
The collegiate monastery St. Apollinaris ( Czech Kostel svatého Apolináře ) is a monastery in the Czech capital Prague .
The collegiate monastery of St. Apollinaris was originally located in Sadská . It was founded there at the beginning of the 12th century by Duke Bořivoj II . Emperor Charles IV moved it to Prague in 1362, where it found its new home on Windberg ( Větrná hora or Na větrníku ) in Prague's New Town .
The single-nave, five-bay building of the collegiate church has a two-bay choir with a polygonal 5/8 end and a tower that has an octagonal upper floor and thus resembles other monastery and collegiate churches built in the second half of the 14th century in Prague's New Town. Inside the church there are remains of wall paintings from around 1390. The church was restored by Josef Mocker in 1897 .
