The St. Barbara ( English St. Barbara Parish ) is a Roman Catholic church in Namibia and is located in the municipality of Tsumeb in the central north of the country. It has been a National Monument since February 15, 1990 .
St. Barbara was the first church in Tsumeb to be built at the request of the Archdiocese of Windhoek in 1913 and named after St. Barbara , the patron saint of miners . It was consecrated in 1914 and was the only church in town for a few years.
From here in 1914, initiated by Father Schulte, missionary work began and a small school was built next to the church. The church and school were later expanded into a small mission station with residential buildings and a kindergarten.
