Andreas Vogt (historian)

Andreas Vogt (born July 26, 1962 in Windhoek , South West Africa ) is a Namibian historian and author .

Educational path

As a German Namibian, Vogt attended the state German primary school Windhoek and then the Jan Möhr Secondary School . In 1981 and 1982 he did military service in the South African army . Vogt then studied political science , philosophy , languages and political philosophy at the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa until 1988 . He obtained a BA

As part of a scholarship from the German Academic Exchange Service , Vogt came to Germany , where he studied monument conservation at the Otto Friedrich University in Bamberg in 1993 and 1994 . In 1995 he did his MA in Afrikaans cultural history again at the University of Stellenbosch .

In 1997 he returned to Bamberg, working under Achim Hubel on his dissertation , which he 2002 Promotion led.

Professional career

Vogt has been working as a freelance historian and author of cultural-historical books in Windhoek since 2001 . He began his professional career in 1989 with the Namibian Monument Council . During this time Vogt wrote numerous scientific articles and books on the history of monuments in Namibia.
