history

In the 16th century a chapel of St. Bartholomew is mentioned in a document. It is assumed that this meant today's building. Due to the proximity of the archpriest's seat in Holleben, this church was never a parish church.

The church was used by the Catholic community until 2005; Since Easter 2019 the Romanian Orthodox Community Halle has found a new domicile here.

architecture

The church is a single-nave quarry stone building with a square west tower (merging into an octagon at the top) and a recessed choir ( 58 end) from the middle of the 15th century. The tower was partly rebuilt in the first half of the 18th century with onion dome and lantern. Buttresses on the nave and choir, spiral staircase to the younger patron's box on the north side of the choir.

Furnishing

Interior of the Beuchlitz Church

Inside a plastered flat ceiling and a cross-vaulted choir. On the north wall in the shield arches there are still remains of frescoes from the construction period (four evangelists). Wooden alarm retable (1613) and pulpit with sound cover by Hans Schroeter and Christoff Erhardt. The parish and patronage box as well as the sandstone baptism with rich relief decoration were built at the same time. Organ front from the beginning of the 18th century. Sacrament niche with pinnacle frame (1461). Two beautiful baroque epitaphs in the choir are still among the special pieces of equipment in the church that urgently need renovation.
