Sankt Benedikt is the Protestant church in the village of Güterglück in the city of Zerbst / Anhalt in Saxony-Anhalt . The church belongs to the Evangelical Church District Elbe-Fläming of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany and is located in the southern part of the village on Dorfstrasse .

Architecture and history

The church was built on the site of a previous building from the late Romanesque period. On the foundation walls of the ship of the old Sankt Benedicti church , which was demolished in 1900 due to dilapidation , the current building was erected in 1900 in neo-Gothic style. Field stones were used as building material. The walls of the windows and doors were made of brick. The aisle church has a steeple on its west side, which takes up the entire width of the nave and was retained from the previous building. An entrance portal was added to its western side. There is a cross on its top. On the east side, the choir is drawn into the nave with aFive- eighth ended.

The interior of the church is spanned by a wooden barrel ceiling. There is a rib vault in the choir. There are galleries on the south and west walls . The wooden interior dates from 1866 and is made in the neo-Gothic style. The baptismal font and altar were made in 1900. The baptismal font, however, contains an old tin basin, which was built in 1624 according to its foundation inscription.

Another hemispherical baptismal font, which dates from the late Romanesque period and was placed in the tower, is of an older date . It is decorated with an arched frieze.

The organ is pneumatic and was built around 1900. It has eleven registers and 690 pipes. In 1981 the wind chest and pneumatics were replaced.

West of the church stands a war memorial for the fallen of the First World War . In November 1996, a memorial stone was erected near the church to commemorate those who fell in the Second World War and the victims of a bombing raid on April 15, 1945. To the east of the church is the cemetery.
