The Roman Catholic Church of St. Burkard is the village church in Oerlenbach in Lower Franconia , a municipality in the Bavarian district of Bad Kissingen .

history

The first church in Oerlenbach was built in six years from 1686 to 1692. In 1718 and 1732 the church was renovated and in 1761 a new organ was added .

Because of its dilapidation and its now too small size, this church was replaced by a new Romanesque building in 1863/64 . This new building underwent a thorough renovation in 1947.

Today's St. Burkard Church was built between 1966 and 1968 . Its construction was largely financed by the diocese of Würzburg . The inauguration took place on October 12, 1968 by the Würzburg bishop Josef Stangl .

The church is an octagonal central building and part of an ensemble with sacristy , free-standing bell tower, two small side chapels, parish hall and parish apartment.

Furnishing

The church contains a few figures from the second church building. The organ is set up on a small gallery above the main entrance. The church has four bells. The tones are e '- g' - a '- c ”.
