The Roman Catholic Church of St. Elisabeth is a listed church building built in 1912 in Benolpe , District 6 of the Kirchhundem community in the Olpe district , North Rhine-Westphalia .

History and architecture

One of the St. The chapel, consecrated to Elisabeth , was mentioned in a document as early as 1537. Today's church was built in 1912 according to a design by the Bochum architect Carl Pinnekamp (1872–1955). The small neo-Romanesque hall was built of rough rubble stone , the tower stands on the south side of the choir . The interior is equipped with a groin vault , the cheeks of the church stalls and the confessional are in late Art Nouveau forms , they date from the construction period.

The sacrificial lamb with victory flag made of antique glass, lead and black solder was created by Jupp Gesing in 1959. Jupp Gesing's 1959 window entitled Geometric Composition was also created by Jupp Gesing . Other windows of Gesing are saints , St. Elizabeth of Hungary , St. Agnes of Rome , the birth of Christ , Christ's resurrection , St. Anthony of Padua , St. Sebastian and St. Joseph of Nazareth . These windows were also made in 1959. The rose window on the gallery with the title Ornamental Composition is a work by Hubert Spierling from 1949.
