History and architecture

The neo-Gothic brick basilica with an apse in the 5/8 end was built in 1891/92 according to a design by Hermann Wielers . The transept and the west tower under a pointed helmet complete the system.

With bombing raids in World War II who went skylights lost and the vault collapsed. The window tracery were also badly damaged. The reconstruction took place until 1949, but without the south transept portal .

The walls are divided by group windows, some with simple tracery and buttress. The portal with sloping walls , archivolts and columns opens up to the tower. The tower is richly decorated with blinds and windows. The façade is enriched by corner chapel-like side entrances. In the interior, rib vaults rest on pillars with angular templates.

The furnishings include three carved reredos from the Wiedenbrück school from 1896; they have been added again after a simplification. The Way of the Cross was created by Anton Waller around 1900 .

The ringing consists of two cast steel bells from the Bochumer Verein from 1946 (f sharp 'and a') and a bronze bell from Petit & Gebr. Edelbrock from 1924 (a ').
