St. Georg (Schmidmühlen)
The Catholic cemetery church of St. Georg in Schmidmühlen , a market in the Upper Palatinate district of Amberg-Sulzbach ( Bavaria ), was built in the 17th century. The church at Kreuzbergstrasse 8 is a protected monument .
history
After the expansion of the parish church of St. Aegidius in the town center in 1972/73, the church of St. Georg was left to decay. Due to the efforts of Pastor Georg Braun, the church, which had not been used for a long time, was extensively renovated from 2005 and received its new function as a cemetery church.
Pastor Georg Braun received the Medal of the Free State of Bavaria for the exemplary renovation of the monument in 2010 .
Furnishing
The Retabel of the main altar shows the Holy Trinity . The ceiling painting depicts the resurrection of Christ surrounded by the four evangelists .
