The church

The Evangelical Lutheran village church of St. Georg is located in the municipality of Berka in front of the Hainich in the Wartburg district in Thuringia .

history

In 1752 this village church was built in rococo style. In 2001 it was necessary to found a development association in order to make the planned maintenance and renovation of the church sustainable.

As early as 1997, the parish received 500,000 euros in funding for securing and reloading the tower . This was followed by the restoration of medieval carved sculptures and the repair of the stucco ceiling , the galleries , the organ and the pulpit altar . As a result of this joint work and with the help of the funds, new friendships were made and the church was restored to its splendor.
