St. Goar is one of the three districts of Sankt Goar in the Rhein-Hunsrück district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It includes the core city and the bank areas along the Rhine .
geography
St. Goar is located in the Middle Rhine Valley , the narrow breakthrough valley of the Rhine through the Rhenish Slate Mountains . The valley on the left bank of the Rhine belongs to the Hunsrück , the valley on the right bank of the Rhine belongs to the Taunus . The characteristically narrow shape of the valley originated from deep erosion of the river into a rising floe.
In St. Goar, the Gründelbach coming from the Hunsrück flows into the Rhine.
The district consists of the core town of Sankt Goar on the Rhine, the Fellen district to the north on the Rhine, the An der Loreley district to the south on the Rhine , and the residential areas Gründelbach and Burgschenke Rheinfels.
